Becoming A Teacher
Have you ever been in the position of leaving your country behind, no matter what? Well, I had. About two years ago I had to leave my country and come to the United States. Mainly, I feel there were three big factors different from what I was used to. These factors were learning a new language, meeting new people with a different background and adapting to a new culture.
First, was speaking a language different form my native one. I had to learn the language in order to be able to communicate with the others. Most of the people in Naples, where I first came, did not speak much Spanish so I had to learn English in order to ask for things I needed and to get around, to make some friends and make my self available for some jobs opportunities, among others.
Second, meeting new people with different background and getting along with them. When I arrived to Naples, Fl, I did not have any friends. I had the opportunity on meeting a wonderful girl that taught me that to enjoy I could also remain responsible, and to make the most out of every situation. Also, I will never forget my first day in Broward Community College were I met my best friend. I can still see him sitting next to me and asking my name; he was as nervous as I was. Furthermore, then I also met my dental friends, the ones that work with me in a dental clinic. These friends helped me realize that I wanted to pursue my studies at the Dentistry School. For instance, the doctor and my friends let me take x-ray to other patients and show me what everything meant. Suddenly, I did not felt lonely or sad anymore but happy for been here.
Finally, getting to know the culture of a different country can be a total adventure. American people have many celebrations around the year.
