Global Business in the 21st Century
To define a global organization would be to understand this type of organization has a presence on multiple continents, on several countries with laws and regulations varying, multiple corporate entities, diverse local business environments and cultures, diverse information technologies and varying levels of understanding of management and organizational controls and standard information security practices. “Globalization is allowing businesses to operate as if national borders did not exist also allow social activist, labor organizations, academics and many others to work on a global stage. (Porter, 2008).
Globalization is driving more companies to have a direct impact and direct presence in more countries. Many consumers want a consistent and consistently high level of service in all countries rather than having to be limited to new country. The global customer is demanding more pressure on the supplier to coordinate across countries and businesses to deliver better service. (Galbraith, 2007).
There are many factors that have to be taken into consideration when deciding to go global. Organizations have to decide on the best product for the consumer. Relate values through introducing the new cutting edge product. When marketing the new product the organization needs to market all the possible uses of the product. The organizations need to manage through product centres, product reviews and product teams.
