The change of Jem during the Course of the Novel

Jem has changed a lot during the course of the novel by means of growing up and yet he remains the same because he still has the same friends and brother/sister relationship, although it isn’t exactly the same as when he was younger. Over the course of the novel his behavior has changed dramatically, his relationship with his father and sister has also change and he is becoming a lot smarter than he used to be.
One of the biggest incidences where Jem’s behavior has changed dramatically though out the course of this novel, is when him, Scout and Dill are playing games with Boo Radley and Jem says “Your too scared to even put your big toe in the front yard.” There you can see that at the beginning of the book he is childish and towards the end of the novel he is maturing into and young adult.
Another incident in showing that Jem’s behavior has changed is the mob scene where Atticus was sitting in front of the jail house door when Mr. Cunningham’s mob showed up, and the kids ran over to Atticus. Atticus told Jem to take Scout and Dill back home but Jem refused. Where at the beginning of the novel Jem would have listen to his father and probably went home and cried but instead he kept refusing what Atticus had asked him to do and ended up staying, the mob eventually left.
